Crows – Tamara Assaf

"Crows" by Tamara Assaf of Gilroy. Tamar created seven crows through the process of wheel thrown clay which was then stained, high fired and placed on a wire pipe. The seven ceramic crows are now resting on top of the Geyserville town sign in the middle of Geyserville.

Tamar classifies crows as synanthropic (ecologically associated with humans) birds, as crows are found in close proximity to human habitats. They are intelligent and known to manufacture and use tools in their search for food. Crows have learned to utilize human environments to their benefit. Tamar captures the natural essence of perching crows, and is her way of commenting on human urbanization of nature.
