Intention – Hector Ortega

Sculptor Hector M. Ortega of Phoenix, AZ is an Arizona native. Hector draws his inspiration from the Southwest, which surrounds him with an oasis of visual stimulation that ranges from modern architecture, art and Phoenix’s natural habitat. Currently he is primarily working on large-scale sculptures and custom architectural steel fabrication and design.

Hector states; "Steel as a medium has enabled me to translate gentle arcs, rolling waves, and tapering geometries into forms, that once interconnected, will evoke a sense of place, calm, and order to our environment. I want people to be excited as I am for a project and to be inspired to do more with every opportunity that is given to them. It is my duty to uphold a standard that is inspirational to all.

On display on Cloverdale Bvd., near the Chamber of Commerce, is Hector’s sculpture "Intention" sponsored by State Farm Insurance, Chris Andersen. "Intention" is 9’10" x 3′ 6" x 3′ 3" and is fabricated steel plate. According to the artist, "Intentions" was created with the idea of manifesting things in our lives through hard work and determination no matter how difficult these things may seem. We are capable of realizing amazing things in this world and I hope that my art can help inspire others to achieve whatever they set their intentions to."
