Drum roll, please – The winner of the 2020 People’s Choice Award is “Derrick” by Sculpture Jam”, a group of sculptors from Sebastopol, congratulations. “Derrick” was conceived and executed by the Sculpture Jam sculptors Beth Hartmann, Gordon Carter, John Packard, Jeffrey Zankel, David Furger and John Draper. This collective has existed for over 20 years; their mission is to create public sculpture.
“Derrick” references old-time oil derricks. The sculpture acknowledges our continued reliance on boring for oil, while looking toward greener energy sources. An image and additional information are available within the Sculpture Page.
Sculpture Jam will receive a People’s Choice certificate and wine from a well-known Cloverdale winery, J. Rickards Winery.
